Alex Verdugo made an instantaneous impression in his return to Fenway Park and didn’t conceal his feelings from the Purple Sox.
Verdugo on Friday hit a house run off the primary pitch he noticed from Brayan Bello and wildly celebrated as he rounded the bases. The outfielder went 3-for-5 on the evening with 4 RBIs to assist in giving the New York Yankees an 8-1 win over Boston.
The 28-year-old was anticipating a “very private” collection when New York confronted Boston for the primary time this season, and the eight-year outfielder was working on “pure adrenaline” after he hit his homer amid boos from Purple Sox followers.
“Pure adrenaline, man. Simply fired up,” Verdugo informed reporters, per MassLive’s Chris Cotillo. “I wasn’t actually anticipating to swing first pitch and to place it out of the ballpark and provides us an early 2-0 lead was large. I let a bit yell out round first and once I hit second, I noticed my dugout going loopy, all the fellows on the market barking and doing no matter they’re doing. I kinda misplaced it once more.”
