CHICAGO — St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras left Saturday’s 8-6 loss to the Chicago Cubs due to proper hip tightness.
Contreras drove in two runs towards his former group. He hit an RBI double within the fifth inning, after which was changed by Ivan Herrera behind the plate earlier than the Cubs batted within the sixth.
The Cardinals mentioned Contreras is day-to-day.
The 31-year-old Contreras is batting .244 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs in his first season with St. Louis. He finalized an $87.5 million, five-year contract with the Cardinals in December.
