A NEW FILM will chart the unbelievable achievements of Mercedes Gleitze who was the primary girl to swim the English Channel within the Nineteen Twenties.
The movie can be launched on the eighth March on Worldwide Girls’s Day – the annual celebration of the achievements of girls in society.
Gleitze was born in 1900 and handed in 1981.
She was the primary individual to swim the Straits of Gibraltar. She then went on to swim the English Channel in 1927.
The report was unsure although as one other girl claimed to have swum the channel quicker. She needed to take one other swim known as the Vindication Swim. The girl who claimed she had swum quicker than Gleitze made a fabrication diluting the achievement of Gleitze’s unbelievable feat.
Gleitze’s identify is used within the promoting of Rolex watches.

There have been a string of different feats throughout Europe in Austria.
In 1875, Webb swam from Dover to Calais in lower than 22 hours. This made him a celeb, and he carried out many stunts in public. He died making an attempt to swim the Niagara Gorge beneath Niagara Falls, a feat declared unimaginable.
Masudur Rahman Baidya (Bengali: মাসুদুর রহমান বৈদ্য) (1968 – 26 April 2015) was an Indian swimmer who was the world’s first bodily disabled swimmer to swim throughout the Strait of Gibraltar.[1
The same Strait as Gleitze had swum.
Film writer and Director Elliot Hasler said: “It was our aim to really submerge the audience into the water’s of the English Channel and in that way hoped to pay homage to the spiriti of this incredible woman. Everything you see on screen is real, all shot without the use of tanks, green screens, or body doubles.”
He add: “I want audiences to feel as if they are swimming with Mercedes on her incredible journey and share in her love affair with the water.”
